Speaker Pelosi Calls House Back to Session to Vote on State Aid Package that Includes FMAP Extension
Following a vote in the Senate today to advance a state aid package, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi announced through Twitter that the House would reconvene next week to consider the legislation.
The package contains $10 billion to avert layoffs of teachers and $16.1 billion to extend the enhanced Medicaid match (FMAP). The measure was financed through a combination of cuts, including cuts to food stamps in future years and closing foreign tax credit loopholes.
Lawmakers will most likely return early next week to vote on the package, which made it through a key procedural vote in the Senate earlier today, with 61 senators voting to advance it
