There are 26 million people in the United States with diabetes, but there are another 79 million people living with prediabetes. Diabetes Action Plan (DAP) Legislation establishes collaboration between state health agencies to create an action plan.
Kentucky is one of two states in the process of implementing their own Kentucky Diabetes Report and one of nine states that has passed DAP legislation.
The webinar titled Preparing States for Diabetes Action Plan Legislation on August 22, 2013 brought together Marti Macchi, senior consultant for National Association of Chronic Disease Directors, Dr. Connie White, deputy commissioner of Clinical Affairs of Kentucky and Theresa Renn, manager of Kentucky Diabetes Prevention and Control Program. The speakers discussed the components of DAP, the legislative process, implementation, and expectations.
