Attendees at this session learned what’s next for state leaders with regard to energy and the environment. Former Wyoming Gov. Dave Freudenthal shared his experiences as leader of one of the most active states for natural resource development. He also discussed the challenges facing states in the coming months and years. This session also featured a discussion about the growing role sustainability plays in the management and balance sheets of private sector companies.

"Unleashing Innovation: EDF Partnerships in Sustainability"

 

Colin Meehan
Colin Meehan is a clean energy anaylst who serves as EDF's project director on Austin's Pecan Street Project, where he--among other aspects of the project--is developing a protocol that will translate changes in energy use within the microgrid into power plant emission outcomes.

Colin also works at the Texas Legislature, Public Utilities Commission and the Electric Reliability Council of Texas on legislation, rules and technical protocols for bidding demand response and other microgrid capabilities directly into wholesale markets.

Colin is a member of the Board of Directors of the Texas Renewable Energy Industries Association, where he works with renewable energy stakeholders to develop projects and policies to promote renewable energy development at the utility, industrial and retail levels in Texas and other regions of the U.S. He helps lead EDF's multi-year campaign to significantly increase the use of renewable energy throughout the nation.

Colin also serves on Austin Energy's Public Involvement Committee, assisting the utility as it develops new rate structures to assist in the deployment of energy efficiency, demand response and distributed renewable energy.
